Microsoft has officially ended support for Windows 10. If you're still running it, your computer is now at risk. Here's what this means and what you can do about it.
What Does "End of Life" Mean?
When Microsoft ends support for an operating system, it means:
- No more security updates – New vulnerabilities won't be patched
- No more bug fixes – Issues will remain unresolved
- Software compatibility issues – New apps may not work
- Increased malware risk – Hackers target unsupported systems
Your Options
1. Upgrade to Windows 11 (Free)
If your computer meets the requirements, you can upgrade to Windows 11 for free. The main requirements are a compatible processor and TPM 2.0 security chip. Most computers from 2019 onwards qualify.
2. Buy a New Computer
If your computer is older than 5-6 years, it might be time for an upgrade anyway. A new machine with Windows 11 will be faster, more secure, and supported for years to come. We offer quality refurbished and new computers starting from £299.
3. Switch to Linux (Advanced)
For older hardware that can't run Windows 11, Linux is a free, secure alternative. It's not for everyone, but if you mainly browse the web and check emails, it might work for you.
